Common Purpose
MERIDIAN
senior leadership programme
Common Purpose aims to improve the way society works by expanding the vision, decision-making ability and influence of all kinds of leaders.
Common Purpose is now recruiting for its senior leadership programme Meridian and the next programme which is modular in format and runs from 22 March 2010 to 12 August 2010.
Some key points...
- The number of participants has increased from 25 to 72 over the last two years, so Common Purpose encourages early expression of interest and early completion and submision of its application form.
- The programme brings together a diverse group of leaders from the private, public and third sectors from across Northern Ireland. Participants learn how to improve their capacity to lead, effect change, and expand their networks. On Meridian, participants investigate real-life challenges and visit small businesses, multinational corporations, and prisons. They share leadership experiences and challenges with leaders who have a wide range of responsibilities operating in a variety of fields and contexts. Participants select from a range of electives to suit their areas of interest, context, sector and schedule.
- If Meridian is something you would be interested in doing, or you have one of your staff members in mind, or you are thinking of recommending it to a colleague, then why not register your interest now by contacting Cliodhna Craig at Common Purose? Cliodha's contact details are shown below.

Testimonials...
"The programme has given me confidence to deal with more complex issues and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively with a diverse group of people. As a leader I will engage my staff more in issues which previously I may just have gone ahead with and made decisions without thinking how they affect other people."
"I found the new network that I gained on the programme invaluable as a source of advice, support and crucially, new business leads. Another impact of the programme for ME was a new sense of personal accountability."
"The programme had a big impact in helping me develop as a leader:
"For me, a lot of the leadership development took place simply by hearing about different approaches to leadership, being exposed to new ideas and sharing our experiences of leading with each other".
"The idea of leading beyond your authority, which was at the heart of the programme, has had a profound and lasting impact on me. "I realised that the impact you have as a leader need not be restricted to your own organisation, but can extend to your community as well".
"Crucially for me, the programme has developed my confidence. I credit the honesty of the speakers on the programme with helping her build this new self-belief."
