AI in Action: From Hype to Real-World Results
CEF is delighted to join with CGI, one of the world’s largest IT and business consulting firms, for this briefing session on how can we use Artificial Intelligence in the public sector - responsibly, practically, and effectively?
This focused session will explore:
- What AI really is – demystifying the technology
- Where we are now – adoption trends and implementation across sectors
- Who is getting value from it – case studies of public sector impact
- Where we’re going next – with ethics, governance, and outcomes in mind
Dr. Diane Gutiw, CGI’s Vice President and Global AI Research Lead at CGI will provide the keynote address. Diane is an internationally recognised expert in AI policy, governance, and responsible innovation. She leads CGI’s Global AI Research Centre and her experience spans advising the EU AI Act Commission, Co-chairing the Canadian Government AI Council, and helping governments and large organisations worldwide put AI into action — not just by adopting the technology, but by embedding AI ethics, policy guardrails, and responsible governance into its foundation. Diane was named the 2025 AI for Good: Responsible AI Leader of the Year (North America) by Women in AI.
Diane will draw on her recent work, including:

This session is designed specifically for public service leaders in Northern Ireland who are ready to move beyond theoretical discussions and want to explore how AI can deliver tangible public value — safely and strategically. It will include extensive opportunities for Q&A and discussion with the speakers.
